The Coalition Resumes Targeting Port City After UN Ceasefire Observers Arrives in Yemen’s Hodeidah

For the past six days, the Saudi-led aggression and its mercenaries on the ground have intensively breached the ceasefire agreement that was implemented last Monday. On Sunday, the UN official team arrived at the port city to observe any violations by the warring parties and to monitor Yemen’s most vital ports within Hodeidah.

The mercenaries under the ranks of the Saudi-led aggression intensified their bombardment using armored vehicles and medium weapons in several areas in the province of Hodeidah, in addition in using bulldozers to build up fortifications.

A local official from the coastal city reported the presence of armored vehicles affiliated with the Saudi-led aggression that are bombing the area of Kilo 7 in the Hali district, the city of Shabab located in 90 Street using medium weapons.

The source added that a military bulldozer used by the forces of the aggression continues in building fortifications east of the city of the Shabab on 90th Street.

Two civilians were seriously wounded yesterday after they were exposed tom mercenary fire in the mountainous area of the Tuhita district.

Since the beginning of the cease-fire in Hodeidah, the forces of Saudi-led aggression continued their violations by using heavy, medium and light weapons and intensive hovering of military and espionage aircraft. The violations resulted in casualties among the civilians.

The spokesman of the armed forces, Brigadier Yahya Saree said on Sunday that the coalition paid mercenaries continued violations of the cease-fire regarding Hodeidah agreement, taking advantage of the commitment of the army forces and the popular committees in not responding back to these successive violations.

In a statement quoted by the Saba news agency, Brigadier Saree said that the Saudi-led aggression mercenary forces committed 47 violations during the past 24 hours in conjunction with the arrival of the UN team to Hodeidah, while coalition warplanes continued hovering over the city using warplanes and spy drones, in addition to the hovering of an Apache helicopter over the Durayhmi district.

The Spokesman pointed out that 27 artillery shells were fired at residential areas, army positions and popular committees, including 15 mortar shells fired at the outskirts of the al-Shaab city, two mortar shells towards the north of 50th Street and 10 shells in the direction of al-Waha Resort and surrounding areas.

He pointed out that the mercenaries used various medium weapons in targeting the south-east of the al-Aqd and towards the 50th Street, the Summit Hotel, the city of the al-Shaab, Kilo-16, City Max and Fadhli mosque.

Brigadier Saireh reported that the army and the Popular Committees monitored the bulldozers of mercenaries, which are building fortifications and developments east and south of the city of the Shaab and towards, al-Aqd and the Gharasi. Also, reinforcements and night movements of the mercenaries were observed from the east of Mnthar to al-Gharasi and Ahosh-Baqer regions, and from the desert towards the mills.

Regarding the raids on the other fronts, Brigadier Saree pointed out that the Saudi-led coalition warplanes launched 29 air raids, including five raids on al-Mtoun, a raid on al-Ghil in al-Jawf governorate, seven raids on Najran, six raids on Saada, nine raids on Sarawah in Ma’rib governorate and a raid on Wadi al-Thiq within al-Jawf.

The Saudi-led latest violations in the coastal province of Hodeidah occurred during the presence of the UN observer in the city.

A military source said that the mercenary forces of the Saudi-led aggression bombed intensively Sunday evening, December 23, 2018, the village of Saffran in Kilo-16, hours after the arrival of the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee Patrick Cammaert.

In conjunction with the Saudi breaches, coalition warplanes were hovering on top of Kilo-16 district within Hodeidah.

The source added that the forces of aggression aimed at breaking the truce by committing continuous violations before the eyes of the Ceasefire UN Commission in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement and Security Council Resolution 2451.
